Installation Facts
Here are a few helpful
hints regarding the installation of a
sauna....
-
If you plan to have no
running water in your sauna, (i.e. shower or tap) no drain is necessary.
A sauna is a dry heat unit. (Application of small amounts of water poses
no problem.)
-
Wall material supplied is
for vertical application so strapping of stud walls is necessary.
Horizontal strapping allows for vertical Tounge and Groove
boards, but also allows a small air pocket between the cedar boards and
vapour barrier (insulfoil). Strapping is nailed on vapour barrier.
-
Vertical boards should be
left about 1/2" to 1" from the flour.
-
Door should be cut back
1/2" at base to allow fresh air intake into sauna.
-
The Duckboard (1x3 floor
boards) should be made in 2 sections.
